The roof pediment of the central block reads "Fitch Block" and each wings has an "F" monogram on the roof pediment. An awning covers each window as well as the storefronts on the ground level. "Boyden's" is visible on a sign above one of the awnings. Pedestrians and bicyclists on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. A horse and buggy stopped outside the hotel.
Message on back reads: "Dear Mother, / This is a nice place. Smith College is here. Staid [sp] here over the 4th. Will go home tomorrow the 4th if it doesn't rain is doing that now. / Yours with love / J. C. N."
[Possible sender could be Jay C. Newton]
Back is addressed to: "Mrs. Della E. Newton / Dalton, Penna / R. D. #3"
