Image ID: Coolidge Memorial Room
The oak roll-top desk, along with a matching chair, was presented to the Forbes Library by Mrs. Grace Coolidge, widow of the President, following his death in 1933. Coolidge bought the two pieces in 1898, when he first opened his law practice at 25 Main Street, in Northampton, twenty months after his graduation from Amherst college. He continued to use the furniture upon his return from Washington to Northampton, in 1929, until his death in January, 1933.
