Post Office
Image ID: WPC 01:203Front:
Color image of the former Northampton Post Office on Pleasant St. The square one-story building has long white windows and two pillars standing around the front door with a light fixture hanging down between them. "United States Post Office" is engraved in the stone above the front entrance. Roof has an intricate stone lining and an American flag. To the left of the building is a driveway; the Post Office has a side entrance in the back. Several bikes lean against a side railing and more are parked across the driveway. Houses can be seen behind building. To the right of the Post Office is Amory St, across which a three-story brick building can be seen.
Message on back reads: "8-5-17 / Yours receivd, thanks. The weather here the past week has been very hot; anywhere from 90 to 102 degrees + no air, yesterday was an ideal day + it seemed good. Think there were 125 here drafted + this street (is short) + was struck hard for there were 10 drafted. / Call again / K. A. P."
Back is addressed to: "Mr. L. C. Skinner, / 520 Cottage St. / Pawtucket, R. I."
[Recipent is possibly Lorenzo C. Skinner of Pawtucket, RI]
