Smith College Andrew W. Mellon Professor in the Humanities, Elliot M. Offner (1931- ), is widely renowned and honored for his dramatic and sensitive sculptures, and for his graphic artistry, represented in collections around the United States and abroad. In 1992, he received the coveted Gold Metal of the national Sculpture Society.

His Rosemary Press has produced exquisite examples of the art of print, including the five-color woodcut of "Trees on Hampstead Heath," a gift to the Library from the artist in 1994.
